If you are a musician from the ages of 14-25 and want to utilize FREE recording studio time, mentoring from established professional performing artists, and get connected to PAID performance opportunities—Totem Star might be the right fit for you!

Please read this info carefully so you know what to expect when visiting Totem Star for the first time. We can’t wait to meet you!

If you are a new artist and would like to get involved, please visit us during a drop-in Friday from 4-8PM (details below) to learn about our organization and see if Totem Star is the perfect fit for you!

At your first day in The Studio, you will meet our lovely staff of Artist Mentors and fill out a New Artist Sign-Up Form. Then, you will given the online password to book 1-1 sessions with our Mentors (details below) on Tuesdays-Thursdays from 4-8PM.

here’s how to meet us:

Drop-in fridays

We offer our drop-in days every Friday from 4-8PM. These days do not require booking a session. Drop-in Fridays serve not only as our Artist Sign-Up Day, but for you and our Returning Artists to utilize the Totem Star Studio rooms and Hallway Stations in a first come, first served fashion. Drop-in days are great for meeting and collaborating with the wider Artist community and practice independent use of our recording gear and Digital Audio Workstations—even if it’s your first day at The Studio!

WHERE TO FIND US

We are located on the 2nd floor of King Street Station (303 S Jackson St, Seattle) in the Station Space Arts Hub.

Before 6pm, you may enter through the 2nd floor door (near the garden along Jackson St. above the Amtrak).

After 6pm this door will be locked, but you may check to see if a security guard is on staff or someone is inside to let you in.

No luck? Contact our Totem Star land-line at (206)-759-2575, express that you’re a new artist looking to drop-in—and someone will let you in!

booked sessions

After you visit us on a Friday and get the online password to book, know that we offer 1.5-hour one-on-one sessions with our Mentors on Tuesdays-Thursdays from 4-8PM.

Scheduled sessions offer a 4pm and 6pm slot on these days, including additional Hallway Stations for independent, headphone production work.

*Session sign-ups for the week open every Monday! Be sure to check the booking page to reserve your spot. Opening our sessions to book on the same day each week helps ensure that all Artists have an equal chance to schedule time with Mentors and that we can serve the whole community.
