About Justus
I was born in Seattle, WA, and I have been with Totem Star for three years.
At what moment did you fall in love with music?
In 4th grade when I started playing trumpet is when I found my love for music. I fell in love with it even more when I started playing guitar three years ago. When I came to Totem Star I started playing drums, bass, and keyboard. I taught myself all of these which made me realize I had a gift and I should continue music as a career.
How do you think people will perceive the beat tape?
I think that a lot of people will like the versatility I bring when it comes to beat making. A few months ago, I only made trap/hip-hop beats, but I tried to experiment with different stuff and made anything that wasn’t trap. This beat tape has a mixture of trap, Bay Area, chill/Lofi type beats and I think people will love the different moods/genres I packed into this beat tape.
What have you learned from your experience with Totem Star? What are some of the biggest takeaways?
I’ve learned not to be scared to share my music or play infront of people. Before I came to Totem Star, I was a really shy person and it helped me become more outgoing and not be afraid to share my music with other people and play in front of people.
What advice would you give to other young artists?
“Do what you love and never stop because you’ll regret it later in life” -Justus
